It’s been about a year, or a minute, depending on your colloquial dialect. I haven’t had any time to write out my stream of conscienceness, mostly because it’s been an exhausting 12 months, but that’s a different post entirely.
What has kept me relatively busy the several months, in terms of my press project concerns, is a major refactoring of the front- and back-end. It’s prettier, sleeker, more performant and, well, now I actually I’m back to 10K users after purging some of those nasty spam bot numbers… actually 20K, if you count international users.
Here’s one thing I wish I would’ve started earlier: an email list. So let that be a lesson to all of you who are trying to grow your own audience — start a mailing list now! There are lots of tools out there to do it. I’m a big fan of ConvertPro. ConvertPlus is good, too, if you don’t need heavy customization or targeting. If you’re not in Wonderful WordPressland, you can try OptIn Monster, which does the same thing, albeit for a monthly fee ($9-$50/mo.).
