Oy! Everything WP/BP-related will resume once I'm back from Hawaii. Until that day comes, keep your ear to the grindstone.

Buy BuddyPass

BuddyPack BuddyPasses will be back up on the shelves in about two weeks. Hang in there =)

The Quick Guide to BuddyPass

Q: What’s the difference between BuddyPack and BuddyPass?
A: BuddyPack BuddyPress (B2) is a collection of free, GPL licensed child themes for BuddyPress. BuddyPass is essentially the golden key to access all of the themes contained in the pack. BuddyPack and BuddyPass are not affiliated with BuddyPress, WordPress or Automattic.

Q: If B2 is free, why should I purchase BuddyPass?
A: For starters, you will be able to vote on the direction of where BuddyPack is headed. With this membership you’ll become an integral part in shaping the actual design of the child themes. That means, you’ll also get first dibs on every theme that goes into BuddyPack, before it is released to the general public, which might take anywhere from six months to a year.

Q: Are your themes compatible with WordPress 3.0?
A: Yes. In fact, the demo site is running WP3.

Q: Sounds good and dandy, but how much will this all cost?
A: For a limited time, the first 100 people to purchase BuddyPass will lock into the introductory price of $20 to gain access to all themes from now until 2011.

Q: How many themes are you expecting to roll out with this year?
A: Three at the very least. Anywhere from five or more is probably more like it, which breaks down to about four bucks per theme, if you’re one of the first 100 people to lock into the introductory rate.

Q: Do you provide customer support?
A: While there is no official support forum, a good handful of my customers have asked several questions about how to do certain things and I’ve always helped them out. It comes down to this: I love WordPress, BuddyPress, open source and I love for it to remain a hobby for me right now, as I do this on the side of a regular web design job. Being able to put themes out there and interacting with coders from different parts of the world is very fulfilling. People with moderate to intermediate coding skill levels will certainly appreciate the legwork that has been done on these themes for them to customize to their own needs. For beginners, all BuddyPack themes are ready to be activated and the only thing that usually needs to be done is replacing the sample header/logo with a customized one.

Q: What can I expect if I purchase BuddyPass today?
A: Since everything is predicated on the simple idea that BuddyPack themes will be a collaborative effort — I design, you provide feedback, I redesign — the first thing that will happen is a verification process of your payment going through PayPal. Once it has been confirmed, your membership level will be upgraded so that you can grab the latest theme and source files from the Download Center. But since we’re just starting out, the first 100 people will also receive the complimentary Snappy HTML site template, which you’ll be able to use on commercial and personal projects for quick promotions. It’s received lots of accolades on the production sites I’ve got it running on, so I’m sure you’ll like it. It’s easy to use and lightweight and indexes in a snap.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: At the moment, all payments are only handled through PayPal.

Q: Do you take on custom work?
A: At a minimum starting price of $1,500 the answer would be yes. I’ve found that the typical price range for rolling out with a completely custom-built BuddyPress site in the WP/BP development circuit runs around the $10,000 to $15,000 range, with this not taking into account any crazy custom functionalities. Just as a reference point ;-)
